Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, General David L. Goldfein visited Finland from 14 to 15 July. The visit was hosted by Commander of the Finnish Air Force, Major General Pasi Jokinen.

During the visit, the leadership of the Finnish and the U.S. Air Forces discussed topical issues relating to the defence cooperation between the two nations. While in Finland, the United States Air Force delegation visited the Air Force Command, the Air Force Academy and the Karelia Air Command.

Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg met with General Goldfein at Tikkakoski Air Base on Sunday 14 July. In addition, the U.S. Air Force delegation received a briefing about the activities of the Air Force Command and an introduction to the Live, Virtual & Constructive (LVC) pilot training of the Finnish Air Force.

‒ It is an honor to be here in Finland. We value Finland as a strong U.S. and NATO partner. We look forward to continued cooperation with the Finnish Air Force in the areas of high-end air exercises and training, General Goldfein said.

On Monday 15 July, the U.S. Air Force delegation and the United States Ambassador to Finland, Mr. Robert F. Pence visited Rissala Air Base, where the visitors were acquainted with the Finnish Air Force F/A-18 Hornet multi-role fighters and the activities of the Karelia Air Command.
