Finnish Air Force F/A-18 solo display receives two awards at the Royal International Air Tattoo

The Finnish Air Force participated in the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford from 19 to 21 July 2019. The F/A-18 solo display flown by Captain Arto Ukskoski received two awards at the air show.

For the second year in a row, the Finnish Air Force F/A-18 solo display was awarded with the Sir Douglas Bader Trophy for the best individual flying display. Captain Lauri Mäkinen received the same trophy in 2018.

In addition, Captain Ukskoski was awarded with the As The Crow Flies Trophy for the best overall flying demonstration as judged by the Friends of the Royal International Air Tattoo.

Captain Ukskoski is the Finnish Air Force F/A-18 solo display pilot for the 2019 season. He serves at Lapland Air Command’s Fighter Squadron 11.

The Royal International Air Tattoo is one of the largest and most prestigious air shows in the world. This year, 245 aircraft from 39 air arms representing 25 nations took part in the event. The three-day air show drew approximately 170,000 visitors to RAF Fairford.
