The Finnish Air Force's Five Units

The Finnish Air Force is composed of the Air Force Command, the Air Force Academy – the service branch school – and three operational air wings: the Lapland Air Wing, the Karelia Air Wing, and the Satakunta Air Wing.

Air Force Command

Located in Tikkakoski, the Air Force Command serves as the command headquarters of the Commander of the Finnish Air Force and is responsible for official duties assigned to the headquarters. The command is led by the Chief of Staff.

Air Force Academy

The Air Force Academy is based at the Jyväskylä garrison in Tikkakoski. It is responsible for delivering the joint modules of officer education, as well as the continuation and supplementary training of regular personnel and the training of conscripts.

Lapland Air Wing, Karelia Air Wing, and Satakunta Air Wing

Based in Rovaniemi, Siilinjärvi, and Pirkkala, respectively, the Lapland Air Wing, the Karelia Air Wing, and the Satakunta Air Wing focus on operational activities. Their primary mission is to monitor and safeguard the integrity of Finnish airspace around the clock. The air wings also provide training for conscripts.
