Royal Air Force Typhoon fighter jets to visit Tikkakoski Air Base

Air Force Academy will host a visit of Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoon jets at Tikkakoski Air Base on 29 April‒3 May 2024.

The Royal Air Force detachment deploying to Tikkakoski Air Base will consists of a maximum of four Eurofighter Typhoon jets and 60 airmen. For the Finnish Air Force, the objective of the visit is to further enhance the bilateral cooperation and interoperability with the Royal Air Force. 

‒ Air Force Academy will provide host nation support to the deployed fighter detachment. During the visit, we will gain valuable experience in hosting Allied fighter jets here at Tikkakoski Air Base, says Lieutenant Colonel Sami Nenonen, Deputy Commandant, Air Force Academy. 

The Typhoon fighter jets deployed to Tikkakoski Air Base will participate in the multinational Swift Response 24 exercise in Estonia. The exercise is part of NATO’s Steadfast Defender 24 exercise series. The Typhoon jets will fly from Tikkakoski Air Base during daytime on 29 April‒3 May 2024, including on May Day.
