20.1.2026 | The ferry flight of JF-501 from Lockheed Martin, Texas, to the training base in Arkansas begins Finnish Air Force’s F-35 fighter deliveries.

16.12.2025 | Finland’s first F-35A multirole fighter, designated JF-501, was presented to the public at a rollout ceremony at Lockheed Martin’s production facility in Fort Worth on 16 December.

The Finnish Air Force is one of the oldest aerial warfare service branches in the world to operate without interruption since its establishment in 1918.

11.9.2025 | The Finnish Air Force will conduct the Protective Fence 25 exercise from 22 to 26 September 2025. The exercise will involve a total of around 50 aircraft and 1,200 personnel.

16.5.2025 | The final exercise of the unit training phase 1/25 (JPH 1/25) consists of a base operations exercise and Baana 25 highway strip exercise. The Finnish Air Force conducts the exercise biannually at its different bases.

7.5.2025 | An F/A-18 Hornet fighter crashed in the Rovaniemi airport area on 7 May 2025 at around 11 am. The pilot rescued himself with the ejection seat and was slightly injured. The aircraft accident did not involve personal injuries on the ground.

21.5.2025 | The Nordic Air Forces conducted Nordic Combat Enhanced Training over the Baltic Sea in order to strengthen NATO´s collective defense and deterrence. Fighter jets from Finland, Sweden and Denmark attacked an enemy presence on Swedish territory.

30.4.2025 | Finland will take part in the Swedish Air Force’s base operations exercise in Uppsala at the beginning of May. The exercise will involve also Finnish reservists.

9.6.2025 | The Finnish Air Force will host the multinational Atlantic Trident 25 exercise and the deployment of NATO RQ-4D Phoenix remotely piloted aircraft to Finland in summer 2025.

24.3.2025 | Finland deploys five F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets to the Ramstein Flag 25 exercise at Leeuwarden Air Base in the Netherlands from 31 March to 11 April 2025.
