The Finnish Defence Forces tested its joint fires capability and new ordnance taken into use over the last few years at the Rovaniemi training area during the Army Combined Joint Fires Exercise MVH 20 on 16-18 November.

The development of the Finnish Defence Forces’ joint fires capability has been consistent and sustained effort over the last few years. It includes for example target identification, target tracking and locating, decision-making, fires and the verification of the fires’ effects.

In the testing event the joint fires was done by using multiple launch rocket systems, F/A-18 Hornet air-to-ground sorties and Navy coastal missiles.

The firings showed that the joint fires procedures, personnel’s skills, different systems and ordnance are working together seamlessly. The sustained development has paid off. The testing was also successful in measuring the effectiveness and effect of the ordnance on the target.
