Air Force's Displays in Finland and Abroad in 2017
Every year the public has the opportunity to view the Air Force displaying its flying skills in the sky and equipment at static displays on the ground in various events around the country.
The season kicks off with the traditional Careers in Military Aviation Days at the Air Force units in May. This year the Air Force will be on display also in many occasions relating to Suomi 100 (Finland 100) celebrations. Air shows are subject to weather conditions.
In 2017 the Air Force's equipment can be seen in the following domestic events:
12 May - Careers in Military Aviation Day at Lapland Air Command
- Including, among other things, Hornet solo, Midnight Hawks and Hawk solo
12 May - Action Day at Utti Jaeger Regiment
- Hornet solo and static display including, for example, F/A-18 Hornet and Casa C-295M transport aircraft
16 May - Careers in Military Aviation Day at Satakunta Air Command
- Including, among other things, Hornet, Hawk and Vinka solos, Midnight Hawks and demonstration flights by Supporting Air Operations Squadron
17 May - Careers in Military Aviation Day at Karelia Air Command
- Including, among other things, Hornet solo and Midnight Hawks
18 May - Careers in Military Aviation Day at Air Force Academy
- Including, among other things, Hornet, Hawk and Vinka solos, Midnight Hawks and Pilatus demonstration flight
4 June - Suomi 100 (Finland 100) National Parade on Flag Day of Finnish Defence Forces in Helsinki
- During pass in review, flypasts with four F/A-18 Hornet multi-role fighters and four Hawk jet trainers
- Also the Hornet solo and the display team Midnight Hawks can be seen in the skies over Helsinki.
9 June - Suomi 100 (Finland 100) Kaivopuisto Air Show in Helsinki
- Hornet solo and display team Midnight Hawks
10 to 11 June - Main Air Show of Finnish Aeronautical Association in Seinäjoki
- Hornet and Hawk solos and Midnight Hawks
14 June - Suomi 100 (Finland 100) Summer Tour in Kuopio
- The event programme includes also the Hornet solo display in the skies over Kuopio.
15 June - Suomi 100 (Finland 100) Summer Tour in Jyväskylä
- The event programme includes also the Midnight Hawks display in the skies over Jyväskylä.
13 August - World Jet Masters at Jämijärvi
- Hawk solo and Midnight Hawks
6 December - Suomi 100 (Finland 100) National Independence Day Parade in Kuopio
- During pass in review, flypasts with twelve F/A-18 Hornet multi-role fighters and eight to twelve Hawk jet trainers
The Air Force's displays abroad this year:
- 14 to 16 July - Royal International Air Tattoo, Great Britain / Midnight Hawks
- 26 August - Nordic Air Show 2017, Kallax, Sweden / Hornet solo
- 8 to 10 September - Sanicole International Airshow, Belgium / Hornet solo
